Such amazing acting, you can truly see how much the one guy loves to mow lawns and how much the other guy also likes to mow lawns.

The smile on Rusts face when he sees marty. It's like he is excited or happy to have done something nice for Marty. And when he gets shut down for trying to be human again, he locks back up and turns into Rustbot 2.0

Unfortunately Rust didn't realize that the lawn was going to come over to his apartment to get mowed.  ;)

I didn't believe it was possible for someone to walk and keep their head so perfectly still at the same time until I saw Rust Cohle in True Detective.

Hey I'm an expert in film analysis and have a PhD in communication subtext and after a couple of viewings of this scene I have come to the conclusion that maybe the topic of conversation isn't lawn maintenance at all!

So much to pick from; Marty's fear of his wife's betrayal because of his own, Rust just wanting human connection without actually stating it because it's not in his nature, Rust knowing Marty is throwing away the family that Rust lost.

Everybody crazy about Matthew's acting (and they're right), but Woody's energy is... Indescribable.

I don't know why he bothered mowing it. Time is a flat circle, and he's just gonna have to do it again!

Woody is so dynamic wow. He can be super funny or super serious
and scary.

"Oh yeah, stay for dinner Rust"

It's amazing that a small scene like this has huge, crucial foreshadowing for the rest of the season.

I love the insecurity dripping off of Marty. He knows he regularly shits where he eats and when it seems as if it's getting done to him he just can't handle it.

Past a certain age, a man who doesn't mow his own lawn can be a bad thing

Woody’s use of breathing when he’s trying to control his rage in in TD is genuinely incredible. Matthew got all the Plaudits but the show wouldn’t be the same without Woody

The sad thing is for once Rust seemed to be in a good mood here. Ironically Rust and Maggie were talking about hooking him up with one of her friends, he seemed to genuinely be there to do something nice.

There is also this think called "cheaters mindset"
Cheaters can be very jealous and fear that their wife or man is cheating him even if he/she does it all the time.

Marty got so upset because Rust did something he had neglected for a while. He underlined it; People have tough time accepting criticism, to an extent that nowadays it carries a negative meaning. Cohle showed Hart that he had been inattentive, as 2012 Hart later admits as his cardinal mistake.

Great scene of a misunderstanding that's indicative of their entire relationship. Rust makes a rare attempt to connect with someone, Marty misinterprets his actions and projects his own flaws onto Rust. It drives a wedge in between them that further contributes to Rust's feelings that Marty has the family that was taken away from him, but is going to destroy it with his own selfishness.

Such a great example of Marty’s masculine frame being tested. Rust mowing his lawn and in conservation with his wife without Marty’s ‘consent’ forebodes Marty’s eventual loss of ‘control’ of his own household, something a man prides himself in. “I like mowing my lawn” = ‘Don’t come and undermine my masculinity in front of my prized possessions’. Wonderful writing

Imagine what would've happened if he smoked Woody's weed
