Where do you get x=0.01 from ? Can x be any small value ?

Hi, I don’t understand how to do these binomial approximation questions when it is not clear what x equals. For example, a question is asking to find the first 4 terms of (1-4x)^0.5 and hence approximate the square root of 96 and the square root of 6.

Hello, how do you know when to stop subbing in 0.01 into the binomial expansion? I know you said that it gets smaller and smaller but when do we know that it is too small and that we can stop? thanks

Sorry for this stupid question but I saw that you didn't use a calculator to muliply 2 digits and multiply decimals so are you not allowed to use your calculator for that.
