Red Bull have issued a challenge to Liam Lawson, stay within three tenths of Max Verstappen during qualifying in 2025 or face a similar fate to Sergio Perez. The Mexican driver was nearly 0.5s behind Verstappen on average, but will Lawson deliver with Yuki Tsunoda still positioned to pose a threat to the Kiwi. Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari debut will reportedly be broadcast live.

Liam was Alex Albon’s team mate in DTM. He destroyed Albon.

Red bull to Liam, ''don't challenge Max, but also don't be too slow'', what type of stupid motivation is this, just telling him to go ahead to challenge Max is enough for the motivation, since they already don't expect him to beat Max so might as well motivate Liam to challenge him.

How close Sainz and Leclerc have been with data is impressive, real shame for sainz he’s not got a competitive team next year

If Yuki is emotional, what is Max ? Yuki has had every driver to grown at him and is beating them so they say he is mentally weak ? GARBAGE !!! RB is afraid YUKI is fast enough to challenge Max and he Won't play second to him or he's Japanese and use Honda as an excuse. Hamilton was a merc man but now a Ferrari man. A driver is a driver and will go to any team to get better equipment. They were praying. Lawson was faster than Yuki and he wasn't, so now they're using other excuses not to take him. What type of formula 1 team chooses a slower driver for their team?. Preposterous !!!

Good thing RBR choose Lawson as he has a similar driving style to Max and likes to race forward.

Yuki was fairly tragic his first couple of seasons with RB. Lawson was pretty much on Yuki's pace from Day One while learning the car and the tracks while Yuki had been driving them for 3-4 years. With Lawson's actual race pace quicker than Yuki's- it ain't hard to see where Red Bull are comng from.

They chose Liam not Yuki that’s there call we aren’t in their meetings or know what they see that we can’t

Red Bull are hypocrites. They claim Yuki has too many emotional outbursts! Is Verstappen any less animated or prone to angry outbursts than Tsunoda is? Come on guys. They just don't want Yuki in their car, its clear now.

This man just looked straight into the camera and said he could argue for Yuki's mental strength 😂😂😂😂

Lawson will accept the number 2 driver spot. YUKI probably wouldnt.

WHAT IN THE DATA ANALYSIS LECTURE IS THIS

Yuki lost the most places in a race than any other with an average of 1.7 places. He crashes a expensively. So Yuki qualis well then falls back. Liam races forward on average on tracks he has never driven. So pre season testing and a full season will be goood for him.

Lawson was 3 tenths off Yuki. Might get schooled by max

The Lawson / Tsunoda graph clearly shows that at each track either Lawson was massively faster in qualifying, (2 times he was around 0.25% faster) or they were within 0.05% of each other on the other tracks. Proves that Lawson definitely had the edge, even though he was a rookie. Yuki didn't significantly outperform Lawson on any track. Lawson also clearly had the faster race pace than Yuki.

My view is that Red Bull are close to loosing Max. If they were serious they would have got Sainz. They are protecting max from a competitive driver, also they design the car around Max and don’t want to change the car for another front running driver. This was Perez ‘s problem and it will be the same with Lawson.

1. Noticed on the race pace graphic Lawson was faster than yuki, interesting !! also i think people forget that when Lawson dropped into the RB for the last 6 Gps - he had been sitting on the side line for a year, No racing at all. To be that close to Yuki from the get-go, says something. He will only get better and better, I wish him well. By June next year we will know if he is up to the job and no amount of opinion will alter that.
