Robert Stone was given Warlock as a primer on novel writing. And, btw, Hall wrote a novel called Lullaby which is one of the greatest scary novels ever.

kind of a retelling of the ok corral from the perspective of behan the sheriff.brilliant movie also daring with its unsaid gay romance between quinn and fonda a the doc and wyatt characters.
