Everyone is talking about the "believe in yourself" bit bit I think the monkeys and the way they're dealt with is the best part. You have the ignorant monkey, who only does what it does without thinking about what that actually entails, who is dissuaded when the human tells him eating brains isn't enjoyable. Then, you have the well-intentioned monkey, who doesn't see his actions as wrong and is even willing to spare the human, given he will participate in the brain eating with them; dissuaded by the human explaining why eating brains is actually evil. Then you have the fully aware "evil" monkey who can not be reasoned with and is only dissuaded when met with real resistance (the hockey stick). Three different components that explain WHY people do things that are wrong.

How to deal with people causing issues
•Dissuade the person causing it
•Appeal to humanity
•If all else fails, stand up for yourself.

The fact that at the end the old man admits he's never had to fight the monkeys is just a great detail for me. He thinks he knows the solutions to others' problems and is confident when even one of those works

I would argue that the character did believe in himself, just not in the trite cliche way that people usually mean it. He took a hard look at himself, honestly evaluated what he had to work with, and then used it. So often "believe in yourself" is used to justify acting like someone else, which is the very opposite of believing in yourself. To truly believe in yourself you have actually know who you are and what you have to offer, even if it isn't much.

I remember someone telling me : "Self-confidence come from handling life Not the other way around"

I was waiting for the twist that the neighbor was the fourth monkey.

“I’ve never actually fought a monkey before, maybe if I hadn’t given that advice, less people would be dead”

Old man, that hit me like a truck.

"I survived this! I shouldn't have, but I did!" was an unexpectedly very motivational quote

I love how this can be used just for laughs, or to get a lot of hidden meaning. Very funny random humor.

Confidence is great when you have it, but it’s fickle and hard to come by. Sometimes you have to risk getting mauled by a monkey to make any progress in something you know nothing about.

I love this as a metaphor for depression, toxic positivity from a lack of experience, the “see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil” maxim, and even the fact that rather than using irrational and unwarranted confidence.

I also loved how the main character used logos (I am nasty, therefore I am nasty to eat), pathos (I will show you why it is wrong to eat others’ brains because it is the core of their being), and ethos (I’ve already dealt with the two other monkeys the nice way when I could have done it in a much meaner way), respectively. I don’t know if that was intentional, but it was certainly real.

This video is just a proof that Mattias has gone clinically insane after the many years of his mind being exposed to his grandfather's monkey pet incident.

"So, the monkeys are a metaphor for-"
"No. The monkeys are not a metaphor. We have an alarm and everything."
"Oh."

I like how at the end the monkeys symbolized the ones of See No Evil (the monkey refused to look at him), Speak No Evil (the monkey covered it’s mouth because of what it had done), and Hear No Evil (the monkey covered it’s ears because it didn’t want to hear that it’s plan was a failure). And since in the end the man did nothing to the monkeys and didn’t fight, and as he was offered to be the fourth monkey, that would symbolize him as Do No Evil. A very interesting take on the four monkeys.

I like the idea that the old neighbor is actually your grandpa and this is how he made monkies illegal in sweden.

What did I learn:
Well, if reason doesn't work, maybe a hockey stick does

This comes off as metaphorical as a children's story, yet it's themes and message is aimed more at adults. I genuinely really like this

“There’s no way you could defeat three monkeys”

Gun.

Now I’m gonna finish the video.

Also this humor/drawing is quite amusing

Not gonna lie, this guy confidently and assertively telling the 3rd Monkey that he was going to fight back with the hockey stick if he had to, after being very passive with the other two, was one of the most genuinely cool things I’ve seen today.
