You nailed this lesson Lucy.
it's also worth noting that we choose the present perfect simple rather than the continuous to emphasize that something isn't short term:
-simple: I've worked her most of my life. (long term)
-continuous: I've been working here for just a few days. (short term).

we can also choose the continuous to stress that something is repeated:
-continuous: I've been using the swimming pool since we moved into this neighborhood. (repeated)
-simple: I've used the swimming pool since we moved into this neighborhood. (one or two occasions)

I'm actually a native English speaker, and an older Russian friend asked me about these a while ago, I didn't know! Of course I know what sounds right, and what should be said, but not the rules. Until today, Tenses knowledge to me were just past present and future, so you have been a great help to a native (present perfect) what a perfect present! Thanks!

How interesting to hear the rules behind how we speak. I never gave a second thought to why we say things the way we do. You're an excellent instructor.

Lucy, you don't know how much you helped with this video. I've been studying for the intermediate language exam since 3 months. I was struggling with the Perfect and the Perfect Continuous tenses but for now I don't struggle with any of these and it's thanks for your videos.

I am from Morocco, so I tried many Moroccan and Arabic teachers as well, but I could not understand when I found your channel, even though my English is not good enough, but through the available translation, I was able to understand my lesson better than before. I would like to thank you very much for these efforts.
