I made my base on a beach area, so i get quite a bit of tridents here and there (Console), and I got a bunch of "tamed" foxes lying around. Almost every fox I see wandering about will have a trident in it's mouth, and if anything attacked me, they would get mauled

If you play on bedrock you can splash 2 wolves with strength 2 speed 2 regeneration 2 jump boost 2 and turtle master 2, breed the wolves twice to get two baby wolves, wait for the baby wolves to grow up and then repeat many times until your wolves become like poopies (spoke’s ender mite)

if you drop any food item the foxes will pick up the food item and drop the axe, making foxes almost useless in pvp
If you want to actually kill someone, just use wardens, Johnny vindicators or withers like I do
