U.S. report says Iran preparing imminent missile attack against Israel

A senior White House official and a Department of Defense official confirmed to NBC News that the U.S. has indications that Iran is preparing to launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel. Monica Alba reports on the military escalation amid Israel's invasion of southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah.

Netanyahu has turned out to be one of the worst PMs Israel has ever had. He's so desperate to get out of the legal trouble he's in that he's willing to continue escalating this conflict until he drags the rest of the world into it. His response to the Oct 7 attack was disgustingly disproportionate, both in terms of scale and loss of life. He has been the obstacle to a cease fire in Gaza, which would have put an end to the cross border skirmishes by Hezbollah that have now escalated into another war. He is not interested in a ceasing of hostilities. I seriously doubt that under a Harris administration that Netanyahu is going to find as much support coming from the US. He's going to end up with the entire Arab community against him if he doesn't change course. Israel has every right to exist, and I certainly do not condone Hamas' Oct 7 surprise attack. However, how Netanyahu has handled this whole situation has only made things progressively worse, not better.

In recent days the U.S. has seen additional movement of missiles in Iran to prepare for the now "imminent" attack, the official said.

Iran started moving these missile launchers in recent days following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday. Nasrallah was killed by an Israeli airstrike.

The U.S. official said Iran's attack could look similar to the one it launched in April against Israel, which had more than 300 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. However, the U.S. official did not know what the exact scope or size will be.

Iran could launch its attack as soon as this afternoon, U.S. officials also said.
