Napoleon didn’t really have a choice. He needed to wait for a few hours until the ground dried out a bit after the heavy rain that had fallen the night before the battle.

The comment above has a really good point. If he didn't wait for the ground to dry Napoleon wouldn't have his greatest advantage, his cannons. I think it would be better to highlight the mistake of his cavalry charging into a large mass of British square formations, or the failure of his generals to wipe out the Prussians.

He did that because he couldn't get his cannons in place until then because of the mud.

This sounds accurate. I remember reading that Wellington was very close to being overwhelmed when the tide finally turned.

He was forced to wait because of a heavy downpour who turn the terrain into mud, preventing artillery to maneuver... Another factor you should consider is that Marshal Grouchy and his Corp spent the day running around searching for the Prussians, being completely useless. Moreover Marshal Ney launched a series of uncoordinated attacked, sending troops without proper support..

What if Napoleon flanked from left and right and send out the artillery?

He was waiting for the pouring rain to stop so his cannon balls wouldn’t stick in the mud

His biggest mistake was to leave Davout in Paris...

Good possibility that all this happened because he was in terrible pain from the bladder stones he ha secondary to having Bilharrzia he acquired while wadding in the Nile River.

Neys defeat groushys failure to follow orders and Napoleons over ambitious and underestimating and his illness lead to his down fall at Waterloo

No, Napoleon lost cause of the weather and terrain. Cause of the mud he could'nt display his artillery and cavelry fast and effective. Also his artillery had minimal effect cause of the muddy soil. If it were dry contitions he would have defeated that coward Wellington and the coalition before the Prussians arrived.

Three words, ...Davout, Murat, Bertier. The mistakes at Ligny wouldv'e never happened, and even Grouchy wouldda been placed better to hold off the Prussians, instead of chasing them. Waterloo wouldv'e been a disaster for the coalition, and Wellington.
