By design everybody sees there's something behind the drawer as no drawer has elongated sides. You have to give a reason why your drawer is short of depth, for example a power outlet using half the space of your hidden compartment.

That cool and useful but it's very possible that it could accidentally be opened. Jus saying. Maybe a secondary lock is necessary but this is cool and I'll be makingit

The main problem with this is that you can't reach the back compartment either way.
I guess you could if you took the drawer out of the frame however that just seems like bad design and made as well just ditch the magnet mechanism.

The concept is still cool though.

However obvious you're supposed to use the magnet on top of the counter with the drawer fully closed, not reach within the drawer with the magnet.
