Fun fact, General Omar Bradley was detained by MPs with guns pointed at him in a checkpoint during the battle of the Bulge due to German Barndenburger infiltration scare. He was detained because the MP thought the capital of Illinois was Chicago, not Springfield, whilst General Bradley gave the right answer.

One major function of MP's that wasn't seriously mentioned is traffic control and area traffic control. Making sure that units can effectively move through an area without a traffic jam is huge.

An MP drove the jeep my dad was riding in off a bridge somewhere in Korea early one morning. My dad woke up on the banks of the river with his forearm bones sticking out of his wrist, surrounded by local peasants who thought he was dead. He turns 93 in about 22 days.

You missed their biggest function. They are highly skilled in the technique of Blue Falconry.

This explains why they always say they have more organic firepower than an infantry company.

As an MP officer, this was a well done breakdown of the MP company and its capabilities.

Really enjoy your content! For sure have used your content as a quick reference instead of going to FMSWeb lol

Things have changed a lot since 2004. My Unit was the First to employ ASVs in Iraq. The SL Had a M4 Carbine and a M9. Each TL Had an M4/M203, and a M9. Gunners had M249s, And Drivers had M4 Carbines. And both carried M9s. ASV teams had a .50 Cal, and a MK19, and Hummvee teams had MK19.

Would love to see you do a breakdown of my old unit, a US Navy MSRON (Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron). They're deployed worldwide to protect high value assets such as replenishment ships and warships, any time they're in foreign ports or transiting contested littoral waters.

1:27 "trust an infantry commander to misuse a combat support unit though"

I felt this in my soul, literally banging my head against the desk during LTP, MRXs, several CTC and WFX rotations etc

This breakdown of the Military Police was very engaging. I never realized these units also possess that much firepower before. I'm curious about the organization of the other security units. Keep it up Battle Order.

They drive around inside the wire telling people to get in bunkers when a rocket hits 5 clicks away. Speaking for a friend.

Wow the MP Corps has come a long way since my days (Cold War). I had 1 5ton with a .50cal, 11 Humvees (2 MK 19s and 9 M60s) 3 MPs per Humvee (3 M16s & M9s, 1 203 per team) when I took command of my first platoon. Our missions where, "Battlefield circulation and control (route signing, refugees, EPW etc.), rear area security (it was said we could handle level 2 & 3 threats in the rear area and delay level 1), VIP security (TOC security, key personnel as assigned) and LE operations." I know we are losing our Law Enforcement role on installations, that's going to DOD Police. MP was a great branch with some great people, I'm glad I got the chance to serve with them. How much access to UAV assets do the MPs have? I would think area security is a good place to deploy them

I was in the 200th MP CMD for the entirety of my military career from the company to the command level. I'm so excited for this video

Mission function varies from branch to branch too. Like Navy Master at Arms (Navy's version of MPs) will provide force protection for the ship while at port or close to shore to prevent something like a USS Cole from happening again. They also will do small boat security patrols around overseas naval bases.

"can be off doing things to the enemy" kek
I don't know why but that struck me as a ridiculously funny phrase.

Our MILVANs were being inspected for redeployment back home and a guy laid out a hookah for all to see.

MP: What is that thing?
PFC: Extra air hoses for the M916s.
MP: That's great big brass thing?
PFC: Spare brake chamber for a M916.
MP: Sure it is. Just put them in different containers.
