So, let's say you have a rusty fender, surface rust and maybe some pitting, both show side and inside of the panel, and you may not get to painting it for a while. You're a weekend warrior on your car. Here are the steps with questions, correct me where I am wrong.
1) Rust removal: mechanical or chemical rust remover, basically to bare metal, but I still may have some pitting.
2) Now, I need to wait a few weekends, because of work, so I preserve the metal and work on that pitting. What product? Do I use Rust Encapsulator on the inside of the panel and Fast Etch/After Blast on the outside of the panel, because that's the show side?
3) Now I am ready to repair the metal, which may include welding and body fill. Do I sand off the Rust Encapsulator if I applied it, or just use PRE Paint prep? I am concerned about adhesion of body filler to the bare metal.
4) Now the metal sits again for a couple weeks. Do I re-apply Fast Etch/phosphoric acid, or should I have planned my time better and gone right to Epoxy Primer? Ultimately, what's the prep just before epoxy when it comes to Rust Encapsulator?

I had a project that required application of the rust encapsulator Platinum in small amounts. I had to open and close the can many times and a lot of the product hardened in the can even after I obtained a new can. I would say plan on using the whole amount you purchase quickly and don´t plan on storing it.

I ordered a quart of the brushable Platinum. It's a very good product. The problem was with the can. I had to completely destroy the lid to get it off. I've never seen a lid do that. It was unusable after that so i wrapped the can tightly in plastic but it still hardened right up. Because of the lid being jackhammered on I only got to use half the product. And it was very expensive !

I have a small rust spot about the size of my baby finger. I noticed it on the inside of the door tonight when I opened the back door of my 2009 Tahoe. Do I need to treat the rust before the encapsulated is brushed or sprayed on? And is there a different kind of encapsulated for the inside of the door?

I bought the plus version and when it came it was hard as a rock and I didn’t know till after the return window. So I wasted a bunch of money. There were no signs of damage on the can or anything. I didn’t open it for many months after I bought it.

Just tell me how to open the damn can already. It has some weird plastic flange, not like a typical paint can.

Is there any benefit to using a rust "converter" and then going over it with this "encapsulator" ?
