A Route 66 road trip is something that is on many people's bucket list. My dad and I did the drive in June of 2019 and I made this video to help with anyone who is wanting to plan a similar trip. In the video I talk about the time needed, cost, what we used to plan, etc. Let me know if you have more questions on this trip in the comments!

Your Route 66 video was the best travel video on that subject I've ever seen by far. Many thanks for it.

Hey man I just wanna say My girlfriend and I drove from Columbus to Las Vegas while moving, and we wanted to take as much of Route 66 as possible. We watched your entire series for ideas of places to stop. We ended up stopping at a lot of the same places and kept finding ourselves saying "wow just like in his videos!" Unfortunately the current virus panic caused many of the museums to close, and a snowstorm closed off the roads around Flagstaff, but we still saw a ton! Thanks for the video series!!

My father Bill Swan made a lot of iconic fiberglass statues which are placed along Route 66 some of which can be seen in a short Amazon ebook for only 14.99 called "The man behind the mufflerman ".

Sorry: I did not want to talk about myself: rather congratulating You and Your Dad to undertake such utmost beautiful "past time". You are indeed a great Son and a I'm sure, your Dad is very proud of you to spent such most valuable time
You have inspired me to ask my Son ( me pushing 75 and he now being 40)- to plan such "trip down the memory lane- Route 66!
Your video collection and fantastic advise as well suggestions all "along Route 66- will be our "Bible" and constant "Companion".
Josh- again: THANK YOU for ALL your "Guidance!"
Wolf
PS: why don't you put ALL of your knowledge as well experiences - from start to finish- together with an actual page by page road map- pictures - motels and especially when and how to get "off" as well getting "on" again Route because : I often got "lost" at different Country most of the Directional Signs especially when leaving the Hwy(s) and immediately there are left- right- straight intersections-: are stolen! So: which way to go(?)

Just want to say, it’s nice that your father and you take trips together. My father travels every single weekend and would never dream of taking a trip with me. I’m watching your video in order to plan my own dream vacation. Thanks for your help

I trucked from 1998-2003. Saw some of the places you mentioned, and road a tiny piece of old Route 66 in our truck. Riding Route 66 is on my 'Bucket List' so this video is really valuable! Currently I live in Israel and riding Route 66 has been my dream for over a decade. PS there is a 'bottle tree' collection in Clarksdale, Mississippi. You should check the town out and maybe the Blues Highway Highway 61from Memphis going south...oh..another thing..its Interstate 40..yes and it devastated the towns around Route 66. The Mainsteet/Mother Road movement it re-vitalizing slot of neighborhoods! Thanks so much for your videos!

We just drove a little of Route 66 from Oklahoma to Kansas and got a great interview there, then went into Missouri just a little on Route 66, now heading back to our smoky mountains but I’m looking forward to traveling more on Route 66, because it’s my childhood memories

I did this in 9 days and stopped at most areas on I-80 into tonopah, NV. stayed at the clown motel for 2 nights for halloween and then did the complete route 66 from santa monica to chicago. Next year in May i'm doing 16 days both ways on a motorcycle boondocking. Will definitely give me more time to explore the abandoned areas.

My "Travel Sisters" & I went the year of our 66th Birthdays! We flew to Chicago & rented 2 Vans! We spent about 3 weeks and had an AMAZING TRIP with a few detours! Great memories!

Thanks for the amazing videos Josh. My wife and I have taken the route in pieces over 7 years, almost a state a year. Even after all of those trips, your videos stirred up a desire to do it all again. You’re one of our favorite travelers and YouTube producers. Keep up the great work and stay safe.

Enjoyed your video. I did the trip in the summer of 2012 when I retired. My run was by myself on my motorcycle. Spent about three weeks on Route 66. It was fun seeing the different things you saw. Other than specific places I experienced. Memories for a lifetime.

Thank you for putting together such an informative, and riveting video, regarding traveling Route 66. Both my wife and I appreciated it very much.
It's been decades, since we've traveled it while on vacation when we were much younger, with our parents! Keep up your great work!

Your Route 66 video is such a great resource for me.I plan on doing this when I retire in a year or 2 and am thinking of breaking up the trip into maybe 3 segments so that I can take it all in. Thanks again for all the great info!
