I did not know my wife was a narcissist until a reverend told me “You are not loving yourself, Most men would have terminated this marriage years ago”.
I thought I was being a devoted Husband and Father. I was wrong.
No one deserves insults and abuse, and that is what narcissistic people send out. They think they are entitled to abuse people.

Dr. Vaknin’s book on narcissism was a huge game changer for me. I had known nothing about narcissism, or the damage a lack of self love can do.
Thirty years single. Very happy. Wish I had read the book years earlier.

So when I confront someone about how they stood by while I was being abused, they say “I don’t remember that”. I wonder how that can be? They were not present, “apparently”, they were feeling nothing.

The compensatory mechanism is not where it ends but just the beginning. You would think they are satisfied just making people think they are better than they really are but they have a bigger agenda. The criminal act they perpetuate onto their target turned victim is at their targets cost. The narcissist doesn't care what it takes to enslave a target to feed their addiction but nothing is enough. They don't care how bad they need to treat their victim to break them down to get what they need since their addiction is their true love so they have no feelings or remorse if their victim dies in the process, afterall it's for a good cause.

Oh believe me self love can protect you but with a capable narc that even has things in common with you self love cannot help you at all, you are mistaken, the enrichment of your life is so strong and the time spend so long that at some point your guards go down, the narcs can be in the honeymoon phase for longer than any mind would question and only then things start to change. How do you boil a frog?
