In this Video, We have a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer, Model WTW8040DW0, in Which was Flashing an F5 Error Code, As Well As it was Making Loud Clicking and Beeping Noises. After Testing, We Found the Lid Lock Assembly was Clicking and it was not Locking the Door, Which meant the Lid Lock Assembly Needed to be Replaced. HAS ANYONE RUN INTO THIS PROBLEM?? First of all thank you so much for the video !! After replacing the lock assembly the F5 error code still showed up and the washer wouldn't work. So i took it back apart and noticed that there are 2 identical "ports" where the lock assembly connects. I initially had reconnected it to the port that the old lock assembly was attached to but i plugged it into the other port and now it works fine. Hope this helps others who may encounter the same problem!!

Same error here. Took a can of electrical contact cleaner to remove build up on the latch mechanism. Works fine again.

I ordered the discontinued Whirlpool part (via Amazon for $56) which my washer was only 2 years old--says everything about Whirlpool when they discontinue their own parts--so you either replace the unit for $600 or pay an extremely high repair bill + part! Very instructive video. My Cabrio washer was throwing up F5 and E3. My daughter, realizing the lid was locked in place, decided to force it up and broke the engagement system. Followed the steps in this video, including the link to the part on Amazon, and had it fixed inside of an hour. As seen but not mentioned in the video, you do need to turn off the water outlets and disconnect the hoses before removing the control panel. Thank you!
