I'm making the Filipino classic Lumpia Shanghai just so I can properly taste my Jufran banana ketchup. Big thanks to Barbara and Cheryle for sending me the banana ketchups and to Jen for the recipe inspiration. ❤️❤️❤️ New videos every Thursday and Saturday!

My childhood friend Aimee grew up across the street from me and her mother was Filipino and she used to make huge batches of lumpia and give it to all of the neighbor kids and I still miss them so much 😊

I used to teach Filipino kids the piano. I was always rewarded with Lumpia Shanghai and banana ketchup afterwards. Before the lesson started I was given a cold glass of mango juice. AND DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON ADOBO!

Banana ketchup was developed around WWII when tomatoes were too scarce so bananas, which were high in production at the time, were used as a substitute and simulated the ketchup-y taste

You gotta make Turon now! It's essentially a dessert Lumpia. Sliced banana and jackfruit wrapped in a spring roll wrapper, fried and sprinkled with a bit of brown sugar. There's also an ube version that's quite popular too.

Love it! Being military we have had many Philippino friends and lumpia was something I craved during my first pregnancy. I also love their version of spaghetti and adobo

I love philipino food <3
My mum has philipino friends from work and give her food from time to time. My most favorite thing is Biko- a type of rice cake, Dinuguan- pork blood stew, Puto- steamed rice cake, and Lumpia. <3

*LOVE* lumpia! A few years ago my dad married a Filipino gal and I've come to absolutely adore their cuisine! Pork belly adobo, pancit & pork lumpia would be my fave meal 💜

I love Emmy. She's classy. She's grabs a spoon to taste the ketchup. I would have stuck my finger in it to taste it that way. Lmao.

I love lumpia! My brother in law is from the Philippines and I love the food his family cooks! So yummy! We use a sweet and spicy sauce to dip though.

These bring back memories! While I'm not Filipino, my best friend was and her mom made these for every major holiday and she would always bring me some! So delicious! Thank you, Emmy for the recipe ❤

I LOVE LUMPIA! I spent 5 years in the Philippines, and my girlfriend there taught me how to make it. We used the sweet chili sauce for dipping most of the time, but I used the banana ketchup for fries instead. I used to love it at Jollibee too.

Thank you for making this! I grew up eating Lumpia when I was really young but my mom passed away and none of my relatives showed me how to make it. It is great for parties and potluck! I never got to eat much of it because it was a shared food for parties! Thank you so much Emi!

A friend of ours makes lumpia. She is a very good cook and we love her lumpia! We keep them in the freezer. I bake them in the oven instead of frying so they are not greasy. But I may try this recipe. Thanks!

0:30 In the Philippines we also have a banana ketchup branded UFC. This is the main reason I don't take the UFC MMA brand seriously.

I’m gonna make like over 200 of these and freeze them for Ramadan. This is so convenient. Thank you, Emmy. 😭💕

I worked with many Filipino nurses thru my career, we always loved it when they would bring lumpia, along with Pancit noodles to work potlucks!
