This Video Essay / Documentary talks about the entire history of Minecraft Manhunt (The Rise and Fall of Minecraft Manhunt) How the concept was created, milked to the point it became repetitive and eventually collapsed because of Dream, The Creator of the Concept.

Also this was completely coincidence that I finished right around this time and I guess it was time perfectly. Happy Birthday Dream. :)

This video took over 5 months of work with tons of people helping me, please consider checking out The Document if you are interested in reading the Script, Changes, Title Ideas and all the credits for the music as well at the entire Soundtrack with timestamps.

Remember, for every subscriber I will do a live manhunt against that many of you guys!

This is my first attempt at a longform documentary type video so the editing might be a sloppy at times, please let me know what you think and give me feedback!

If you want to know the Music, Credits, Script it's all in the description in the Google Document, any questions ask me on Discord

I actually had no idea there were this many people trying to milk manhunts. I wouldn't say dream destroyed it, manhunt was never destroyed in the first place, it just ended.
Besides, great documentary video! As someone that has experience with making videos, it was clear how much effort went into this.

I don't think anyone hated Dream for his face reveal.
I think they hated him for the cheating scandal.

27:49 The dislikes and hate comments on Dream’s music video weren’t from the disappointment of it not being a manhunt video, they were about dream’s character and behaviour online. I agree with other comments too that Dream’s cheating scandal would’ve been worth mentioning, as although this is not just a video about Dream, it had a lasting impact on the online attitude towards manhunts, especially from outside the Minecraft community.

Unpopular opinion, I think it was better that Dream ended it when he did. You act like Dream quit when manhunt was at its peak, but he didn’t. It was already in decline. I feel like if he just continued, it would’ve spiraled into what these copycats became. At least we have good memories of what it was.

Dream did his part in the Minecraft community, and gained enough success in a relatively short amount of time, he doesn't need to keep pushing it cause whatever he was looking to get 4 years ago, he's managed to get. Also amazing documentary NotVixios, this definitely earned you a subscribe.

the fact that i was talking about manhunt to my friends and that it was such a cool idea around 2-3 years ago, and now it’s DEAD is just beyond me. it feels like yesterday when dream started getting popular and just the dream smp in general. it flew by so fast :(

Something I realized by playing manhunts myself is how quickly and unsatisfyingly they can end from either bad luck or random deaths. I stopped doing them altogether, and It was extremely discouraging when I later learned that the odds were increased for certain things in order to make them more entertaining.

I always knew they were staged, though it doesn't quite ruin the magic for me. The manhunt videos are still immensely entertaining and an example of good acting and editing.

It was great that you made a video on this. I think this video might finally give the hint to the Manhunt community that they need to move on and accept that Manhunt is dead. Many creators lose motivation to make manhunts and quit but then come back 1 week later. Others just fully quit because they are scared that their channel is going to die when they get little views on content that isn't Manhunt related. I quit making straight Minecraft Manhunt videos 3 months ago and it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I have been able to start making other styles of content like my recent video that were really fun to record with my friends. I really want others to move on as well, but I don't have control over the content they make so that's why I stopped trying to convince them. But hopefully they figure it out on their own. Thanks for making this video it was definitely worth the wait.

The editing is marvelous, fastidiously done.
Nothing but massive respect to the people that participated for this masterpiece.

As a fellow member, I hate to break the news as this as this is just a fake title and hype up. That video is actually a long awaited manhunt vs 8 hunters

People often don't believe me when I say this, but around 2017-2018 I've been playing a game with some of my friends called "PVPvC, " or "PVP v. Clock" where we would attempt to beat the game as fast as possible while we hunt each other down constantly. We were going to make some shitty low quality youtube videos at the time, so I even had (now lost) recordings somewhere of us starting to play the game and then getting bored and playing on our SMP instead. The recordings are on a dead drive, but I do have the original idea written down in a notebook and photographed onto my phone from around that time period. Neither of the 3 of us that played the game when I just got the idea expected our idea to be reborn and being one of the most popular Minecraft minigames ever.

Everything in this documentary is a magnum opus of minecraft content strapped into just 30 minutes of a documentary, the editing, narrators and writing had some of the highest quality i could see on youtube, it made me feel like my monitor even had more quality than ever despite it being a simple 1080p, defo earned my sub and like just because i love this content

This really demonstrates how much Dream let his fans/stans control what he does and when he does things. Instead of being thankful that he actually uploaded for once to show his hard work for his fanbase, they all just throw an extremely childish temper tantrum, because it wasn't a 6 hunters manhunt. I myself used to watch Dream just like alot of other people, the manhunts were extraordinarily exciting, but as soon as i started seeing all this "Dream stan cringe" I pulled the plug to my interest in that guy. But apart from that, really nice video, enjoyed it alot :)

I still remember going back after uni on a friday to watch a newly uploaded dream manhunt video 😭😭 It was surprisingly good, and for what appeared to be such a simple concept and minimal editing (mostly just cuts and music overlay), it was genuinely better than most Netflix series

Also, gotta say, SURPRISINGLY high production for a video from what appears to be a growing channel, you get my subscribe. Calling 2.7mil by the end of this year 🔥🔥
