They should be called Palpatine’s guard since he is the senate.

The Senate Guard was good against unskilled foes and most unarmed foes but anyone else rolled over them except the unit who saved Ashoka on Mandalore the one true good guard unit

The senate guards were able to fight Commando Droids. They took down 3 of the commando droids before the first senate guard went down. I just think they were mad useless when plot needed them to be useless.

Here's a question I've had for a little while, and this seems like the perfect place to ask it. Do you think that Argyus's betrayal severely damaged the Senate Guard's reputation, to the point that senators preferred to have their security detail consist of Shock Troopers rather than the Senate Commandos? We see this when Padme goes to Scipio accompanied by Shock Troopers. This downturn could also further facilitate Palpatine's introduction of the Red Guard.

The "pacifist" Mandalorian guards were way better

I think it was orchestrated by Palpatine. By showing their uselessness, he had every excuse to eliminate such branch with the red guards.

I think the only time i see the senate guard do well was when Ashoka was escaping mandalore with lux.
They were happy to protect her and fight off the droids. Thats the only time they don’t fight anyone on the most wanted list in TCW.
Can’t blame them for losing to top of the line bounty hunters. Jedi and clones struggle to fight/capture them as well.

Even though they served as blaster fodder for most of the show, you gotta appreciate their armor design. Some of the coolest in the Star War universe in my opinion. I assume they were based off of the Praetorian guards of Rome, as they are notoriously portrayed as inept and traitors, killing emperors on numerous occasions.

Every army or security force is strong as long as it have the "what you know and what you can do" requirements and when that is replaced by "who do you know and who was your daddy" than all of them go to shit. Not only in Star Wars but also in real life and history.
