Adoni Media’s Leisa Goddard says there will be “continual pressure” on the Queensland government to get approval for the New Acland coal mine underway.

It comes as the expansion of the New Acland coal mine has been given the green light by the Queensland Land Court.

“There has been political pressure on this for years and years and years,” Ms Goddard told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“There’s hundreds of miners across Central Queensland who are relying on this mine and others like it for their jobs.”

I’ll tell yr what, without mines and mine infrastructure there would be no freight or mechanical or steel manufacturing businesses at all in central or Nth QLD and the Bowen basin.
Thanks to the mines there’s services in rural QLD.

Keep our economy strong. Help them but they need better environmental safe guards. They are too reckless.

Greenies love riding steel bikes with rubber tyres... rubber brakes- nickel plated components. Aluminum components. Grease lubricants.

Hundreds of miners? What about the thousands of agricultural dependants that make up this community and the national and global market communities that they contribute to? Do some research Sky News Australia, go on, try research. #Murdochknobgobblers #MurdochRoyalCommission

All we need is wind and sun, everything will be fine- I charge my phone off my solar panel when in camping in my 160 000$ camper trailer, pulled by my series 300 land cruiser, shut the nasty power stations, see if I care

~Coal is the number one source of CO2 pollution being the worst.
~Petrol (gasoline) and diesel are better.
~Natural Gas is the best or should I say the least CO2 pollution.

Our grandchildren's future is more important than coal jobs.
* Globally, fossil fuel subsidies were $5.9 trillion in 2020 or about 6.8 percent of GDP, and are expected to rise to 7.4 percent of GDP in 2025 according to the IMF.
* "Air pollution caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil was responsible for 8.7 million deaths globally in 2018, a staggering one in five of all people who died that year." Science Direct
* It is time to replace dirty, polluting coal power and coal jobs with better things.

And there are billions of people relying on real action on climate change. The coal industry is fast approaching its use by date - best use the time we have to focus on the transition.
