The native Delay effect in Ableton let's you Freeze with the infinity button and Jump mode gives you the same stuttering effect.

Seriously though, a few years ago I experimented with creating droning sounds for meditation. I would simply create a kind of melody or just a couple notes in a digital delay loop, give it continuous feedback, put it in reverse, and saturate it in reverb. Boom, you got yourself some ambience. I didn’t realize that I was essentially making you what described here. Good stuff!

What you'll find even dreamier is an expansive reverb going into a short doubling echo going into a wider delay.
It thickens the reverb's fog and lets you get some properly ethereal soundscapes.

Fruity Delay 3 lets you mess with the time. If you turn on "keep pitch" it doesnt warp the pitch either. I've been playing with it so much recently

This is just how delay pedals works.

You don’t need a reverb effect to use a delay. “Microlooping” is just what delay does already

Digital delays that use a fixed sample rate are great for this, the way the sound just rips apart into glitchy blocks when you increase the delay time makes for great texture beds.

It's so great to see you happy and excited about something. Don't get me wrong, I love your other videos that have more of a philosophical angle, but they're usually more "dark" (because, let's face it, reality is usually dark), so it's really nice to see the other side of things and to see you're not always in that dark space.

This is sick! I have this cool delay pedal that has different kinds of delays (like tape, or shimmer) and i will totally try that with this and it's different algorithms!

This is essentially granular synthesis. Not new, but you’re right, you can create some amazing textures for ambient etc. with this technique.
