The haka is a traditional part of All Black rugby. It's a challenge to the opposition but also brings the ABs team together in that moment. How other teams and their supporters react to the haka is up to them. To get upset because the opposition supporter's reacted differently to what you expect. Is like walking into someone's house and telling them how they should behave. I don't have a problem with the supporter's response to the haka and I'm a Kiwi.

The " haka" is an intimidation, they make slit throat and we will " end you" gestures???
And we must respect it??
Are you out of your mind😂😂😂

what about the poor behaviours of AB supporters when kickers line up for a conversion or a penalty, especially the wellington crowd?

As a kiwi I think the SA fans response to the haka was awesome. Through haka we throw down a challenge to our opposition. The way the crowd responded said- we accept your challenge.

The other thing for kiwis to remember is- this is THEIR house they can do what they want. We just have to suck it up, not sook it up😂😂

Its fair game to interrupt the. We cant ever give them space in our house EVER. This is our back yard.

As a S.A. fan i respect the Haka and love it, it is part of N.Z. rugby, I think what happened was unfortunate timing and I would never disrespect the Haka, having said that i must just add that my Grandfather was a New Zealander, but my father and myself are born South Africans, i have always supported the A.B's until they play the Boks, I am a Bok supporter.

They have clearly forgotten how we were treated at Edenpark in the past, crybabies

At times the Boks go into a huddle to pray after a game. They don't expect the crowd to be quiet or specifically accommodate them during these times as their prayers are a private matter. If the Haka mean't as a means to engage with their ancestors, then it is also a private matter and likewise does not require reverence from others. If it is merely a spectacle (which is what I suspect), then it's a free-for-all as far as the crowd is concerned.

Why exactly should we endure, let alone respect the Haka or any other of the Islanders pre-match antics?
If it is that important and sacred to them, let them do it in the privacy of their change rooms

The anthems of both countries is more than enough respect for both countries in any international encounter

I used to have great respect for New Zesland, it's media, it's people and especially the All Black rugby team, but ever since the introduction of, (everything but a "Sir"), John Kirwin and the equally idiotic fellow punters in NZ studio, that respect has waned, and their teams current off field antics, moaning and groaning, do norhing but the nation a great discredit.

What a shame!

Perhaps we should abandon them and the Championship entirely

So what! They boo us off the pitch when we play there.

The haka is a war dance used to intimidate their opponents. What do they expect a kiss in return. Well done the boks and their fans.

Build a bridge and get over it. In 1981 the Springboks had to sleep underneath the stadiums in NZ. The Springboks had to endure miserable conditions, maize bombs were dropped on them from a plane. Rugby pitches was littered with broken bottles and glass. Carma, what goes around, comes around.

And now they are offended. I regard the haka as offensive. Do it in your own country. Sticking out your tongue or knife across the throat will get you killed in other countries. Why must other countries stand and watch this spectacle. The AB's are a top team but forcing others to be intimidated is BS. What is unacceptable is the disrespect for Rassie recently.

As a Māori, SA isn't the only ones who "disrespected" the haka (war dance) but in say "haka", we have different kinds. If what you said that the haka was for our fallen king, then yes. SA was disrespectful. We have haka, to send our fallen to heaven, we have haka to celebrate, weddings b days etc. We have haka for challenges. And plenty more.

But if it was for jist the game in itself, fans have a right to do what needs to be done to cheer their team and country. It's the challenge they send back.

I hope this helps understanding our culture better. Maūri ora.

Why should anyone have to stand in awesome silence to respect a heathen ritual when his faith clearly forbids him to give anything of that sort Of demonic in appearance any respect

The Haka is a sign of respect to the oponent. It's a challenge to a worthy opponent. Abs and nz rugby supporters have huge respect for Springboks. Also I reckon Springboks players love facing and accepting the challenge. As for all SA theatrics like booing and music. Well it's your country you get to receive the haka however you choose. Personally I like the atmosphere that is created. Adds tension. I don't think many kiwi rugby fans are offended. It's just media says otherwise

Respect what and why? It’s over rehearsed, over the top, and ridiculous. End it already

The Haka should not be respected getting in touch with your ancestors is laughable for men of European heritage like Mackenzie

What are they? Holly cows? Why would any one outside NZ have to respect their heritage?
