You should say "appearing confident" instead of faking it. People are turned-off by faking when it is inevitably exposed. So, the idea is not to fool people into thinking you are confident when you aren't, rather it's to have the mindset that you are already essentially good enough, with a self-acceptance of your strengths and flaws, and a determination to becoming an ever-better version of yourself wherever possible, and most importantly never to let any set-back or failure get you down on yourself. Everyone messes-up, but real confidence comes from not letting your mistakes define you, and always seeing them as simply being necessary steps and/or lessons to your future success. Don't fake it, instead just be determined to make it !
