2020 Toyota Supra Review

The Supra name isn’t supposed to be taken lightly — it’s supposed to be the flagship Toyota performance machine. Yet for many on the outside looking in, it seems like the Japanese automaker has outsourced its sports car to BMW. Yes, the Supra was co-developed with the BMW Z4, and it utilizes mostly BMW parts, including one of the most important parts of all, the engine.

If I had to pick a $50-60k sports car I'd choose the Z4. I'm a big Toyota fan, but you get a convertible roof in exchange for a little more chassis stiffness. Which would be a lot of fun if you live in a mild/hot area. Plus don't know if this Supra is going to be as reliable as a Toyota, might need a lot of maintenance like a BMW. I'd like to have the chance to drive one. Is it going to be significantly more fun than a Miata, though? Since I'm not a racer, all I care for is how much fun can I have on the road.

Back in 2001 I was debating between a 1995 300zx and a 1993 supra tt. Unfortunately I bought a Honda civic because it was more affordable. Now I'm drooling over this. Especially that it's got that BMW motor!

I read many hate comments about BMW's engine & other components being unreliable I don't think Toyota would risk their reputation as being reliable with this joint venture, just like Toyota 86 with Subaru

I appreciate that it looks very close to the concept from all those years before. If we get a side by side with teh Z4 from Autoguide i hope for a in depth comparison to see if they really do react differently. I understand people's trepidation with the new Supra but if it's as solid a performer as many are saying then that should be more important. People wouldn't have to like it but the fact would be it's a solid car.

The only single turbo automatic Supras I like run 6's in the quarter.

The GT86 does not have grip because it deliberately comes with skinny tires so it can slide around. Give it wheels like whats on the this BMW and you'll see it does have good grip. It might be a good car to drive but it is not a worth replacement of the MK4 Supra. I do love the price however for a new car.

51 grand is kind of a bargain. But of course the broke ass 16 year olds are gonna complain. "Its not a real supra ", "it has a BMW engine",
"It doesn't match the car in my video games" boohoo.
I'll be placing my order as soon as the dealership allows me to. You know why? Cause I can afford it!!!

I'm just gonna say this, about the fake vents. According to Toyota, they were on purpose cos they said this car was designed to be modified so when you put a bigger engine or a turbo all the fake vents can be opened up for more cooling. I learnt this from the interview that TFL car gave the Chief Engineer. Hate it or not, this car is stunning and by partnering with BMW, they make the car cheap (in sports car terms), and I think it looks good and if it doesn't, I believe it would grow on you. Nice work

Does it have fake active sound coming the speakers like other BMWs?

I cant wait to get one this Summer 2019. Thank you Toyota. 2020 Toyota Supra is the best so far. Best exhaust note better than Type-R and STI. Those hater go away if you are Supra fans or not Supra fans.
