Robin Roberts Beacon of Hope Tribute

Показать описание
At Night of Covenant House Stars on May 23, Covenant House presented the Beacon of Hope award to Robin Roberts.
It all started on "Feel Good Friday'' on October 24, 2014 when Robin chose to highlight Covenant House and our growing Sleep Out movement on Good Morning America. She so genuinely engaged our resident, Nigeria, with absolute respect and unconditional love.
Fast forward to 2021, when she sat for a conversation with our resident, Nicholas, for Night of Covenant House Stars and gave him space to share his story and be his authentic self as a young transgender man overcoming homelessness at Covenant House New Jersey. Her interview brought our audience closer to our work with LGBTQ+ young people who are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.
And, most recently in November, we witnessed Robin beautifully and delicately tell the stories of Naketa and Leshai, former residents of Covenant House New York, who transformed their lives and choose to give back as advocates for children.
We are truly humbled by Robin's connection to this cause and grateful for her willingness to amplify our stories. Robin believes in our youth and she nurture their promise, talents, and courage.
It is because of Robin's actions and intentions that we bestowed on her our annual Beacon of Hope award in recognition of her national advocacy work lifting up the voices of children and youth overcoming homelessness.
Thank you, Robin Roberts!
