First Time Screen Print T-Shirt - Surprisingly Easy

Показать описание
Using Speedball's Diazo photo emulsion kit and printing screen to print my very first T-Shirt.

It came out pretty good. I think I'd let the emulsion cure for a longer period next time. I used aquaset white printing ink on a Guidian t-shirt.

Funny, I was looking at the printing process 2 days ago out of curiosity. Those imperfections give it the antique look, appropriate for the print design. Looks great.

Brilliant! Never used photo emulsion stuff - must try it sometime. Couldn't be arsed having all the silk screens lying space. I'll probably stick to one screen and loads of stencils but Christ that looked like fun - :-)

tip, if you dont have clear paper, what I do is print on regular paper then when I place the paper on the screen to burn into the emulsion I put vegi oil all over it... it turns the regular paper clear/cloudy and leaves the inked part even darker.... and you can print in any color other then black and it will work. the vegi poil doesnt react like cold water meaning it doesnt neutralize the emulsion. Ive found it even speeds up the process. Im using a regular household light and it take 22 minutes with the light or 30 seconds in the sun. perfect prints

I think you should've masked the underside of the screen so that the ink and squeegee would not have been impeded by the masking tape on the topside.

This would all depend on how well the emulsion took to the screen tho, but better emulsion exposure would've been got by using a UV or full spectrum light bulb and shielding the light away from your eyes with eye protection or physical shielding like cardboard.

As for the alleged imperfections, that is what makes personally designed and screen printed t-shirta authentic and one of a kind.

Love the imperfections!!

Hi, Greg! Nice job! Next time, try putting the tape on the back side of the screen so it doesn't mess with the squeegee, and tape on the edges (where a little bit is going onto the wood) so that the ink doesn't go through those cracks. Also, with inking, you can put a line of ink at the top, and pull the squeegee down, applying a good bit of even pressure to keep the ink smooth.I just know that from having taken a class. I do plan to make a little set up at home though, so thanks for this video! :)
