In Demon Slayer Season 1, we are introduced to Muzan Kibutsuji and to Tanjiro, and to our surprise, Muzan has a wife and a kid who are human. Beyond that, we never see them again. Who are Muzan's wife and daughter? What happened to them?

To clarify some pointers:

1) The 2nd databook states that Muzan was born without empathy and that he was “more of an insect than human”. So canon says he was a sociopath as a human.

2) Muzan hops from family to family (1st databook). He used Rei’s wealth & connections to get to the family with pharmaceutical connections (the 2nd family we see him with). The daughter is from the previous marriage as demons cannot reproduce (1st databook)

3) It was implied that him abusing the 5 wives was when he was still human. (Even though the translations weren’t 100% clear on that)

So, to conclude, Muzan is canonically a sociopath even as a human (demonification doesn’t change personality, btw).

The best case scenario (and probably most likely) is he just abandoned them and let them go. Worst case is that he killed them (especially after his cover was blown in Asakusa).

If you happen to be Muzan's wife, expect yourself to die if:
1. you no longer serve any use to him
2. if he gets exposed

or

3. if you have thoughts and actions of committing suicide (like his five wives who committed suicide in the Heian Era because of how badly he treated them)

So, yes. Expect either of these three to happen to you if you happen to be Muzan's spouse.

I was surprised to hear that Muzan was such an abusive spouse. Of course he doesn't care about others, but he certainly made it seem to his latest wife that he did. I figured the kindness was an act, but now I wonder if he's truly capable of empathy after all...

I want to believe he spared them since demons do crave human interaction/relationships weather what it may be. *also because i ship Rei&muzan so hard* also even though hes acting human he didnt look annoyed not even for a moment when Rei or the daughter grabbed him for protection.

Hmmm This sounds pretty convincing. Earlier I watched the the video when Muzan made his first apperence, and I notices that Rey seemed to trust her husband(Muzan) very much. I knew that he was the demon king, and knew that he made 5 of his wives suicide because of his behaviors. This seemed very weird and I stumbled up to this video while research. Muzan could have left blood for them to drink if anything should ever happen to (Muzan) like if he goes missing for more than a month that they should drink this potion he left behind to give them knowledge of what happened to him. It would be his only wish if he goes missing. He would have to make them promise that they would fulfill this wish.

Since muzan was defeated in the end, and if the wife and daughter loved him, I wonder what happened to them after his defeat, and if the girl is his biological daughter, does she have some demon like powers or effects 🤔

Up until watching this and seeing how Rei looks and that fact that it's a daughter, I figured he had eaten them and had access to shapeshifting into their forms but that's probably not the case especially since he later takes the form of a boy and not a girl

I just i wish we saw some humanity in muzan or some redemption because when it came to the 3 drunkards he did apologized which is insane and plus he heard about a massacre done by akaza when he was a human and he decided to get involved that implies that either ge wants to stop the massacre or to mostly turn akaza, i have questions!! I really wonder if Rey didn’t really take her life, where was she in the final battle? Did she live afterwards, did muzan kill her? Or did she just runaway. I’m genuinely very curious about what happened to her and her daughter!!!

I find it interesting he was so angry/sensitive about his looks but still had five or more wifes. The wife provided him money, compansionship and likely everything else a wife would. The daughter would have also been of interest. For someone like being loved as a husband and father could have been nicr

Hello! I have two questions:
First: Well we know that Muzan s daughter is half demon but how could she go to the sunlight

Secondly: How did he keep this huge secret from his wife, and that they NEVER KNEW HE WAS THE DEMON KING. It would have been an exciting part if they discovered.
