The horn on the mother was huge. The lions probably did not want to risk it as they could easily die if they get impaled by that horn

Smart rhino calf. He stayed calm and alert. The center lioness tried to get the calf to charge out away from its mother by feinting a retreat. Calf stayed with the mother without going for the separation bait. No nervous bluster.

i think these lionesses r pretty young adult lionesses r smart enough to not risk their life against rhino they show their strength to large animal but where they understands the game like hunting cape buffalo or giraffe

calf was in no danger, weighs more than the lions lol. Lions cant exactly grab and run off. One swipe from that +3 horn, lions are dead.

There's no way the Lions were going to attack.

I think mother rhinos should be in protected areas till the calf is safe from these big cats.
I saw a lion eating an elephant calf which it probably managed to isolate from the mom

Mother is calm maybe shes aware of that big horn and can injure her calf accidentally.
