All pros know your hands should do NOTHING in the swing except hold the club.

I was struggling three weeks ago, basically bogey golf at best, and near the end of a round remembered a tip you shared. “Point the left shoulder at the ball”. That plus “keep weight on left leg (turn, don’t sway)”, my contact ball flight has been amazing. Going 5 over on the last 23 holes feels so amazing, fun golf!

I do agree with what you’re saying, my only question would be as we get older, doesn’t the swing begin to necessitate more hand/arm action for power? Rotating for speed gets much more difficult when you get to the middle-age range. For younger people I agree with you 100%. Thx for the great videos.

great tip about the hands, but what about the wrists? My wrists keep wanting to take over, to twist the club, rotate it, get forward shaft lean.... then my contact becomes SO inconsistent!

Tom the thing I struggle with your constant “no hands” teaching is that I have a cupped wrist naturally at address. And so do you, and so does everyone. My shoulders don’t straighten my wrist, my wrist straightens my wrist. If I don’t do something with my hands then my clubface stays wide open at impact and I slice it all day. I can keep my wrist cupped throughout my entire swing and have a really solid looking swing but the ball flight proves something is wrong. Bottom line for me is, almost every good golf swing has a flat to bowed wrist at the top of the swing, including yours, and my shoulders can’t fix that. Maybe for you your mind says “do nothing “ and your wrist flattens out, but when I tell my hands to do nothing my wrist stays cupped in the same position it was in at address.

2 weeks ago I was all over the park! The dreaded "S" word too. I came home ready to make an appointment with my swing doc. I was lost...your videos about big muscles, and firm elbows in and arms in the triangle. Last week I stripped it after remembering your videos!

I started hitting pure shots when I pretended my golf grip was a cute little parakeet and I didn't want to hurt him him or let him go, and remember this " throughout the whole swing" especially the downswing and hitting through the ball and let the momentum carry through finish the swing do not let that parakeet die and after you look up and you're pretty bird is still alive then look for the ball and there it will be, up in the air going towards your target and you won't feel anything just

Quiet hands doesn’t necessarily mean quiet arms, though, correct?

Tom, what about the old adage that said “ he has good hands” ?

The problem is that most poor playing amateurs will lock their hand with their shoulders. Meaning, the club head is locked to their hands. Meaning, the club head is only as moving as fast as the hand speed. Meaning, they have 150 yard drives, typically with a weak fade. The club head has to be released, and you release with your hands, nothing else.

Yes I find myself turning the left hand , I am right handed. And I keep rolling that left hand. A very bad habit. So hard to get the club back in the start position. 90 percent of the time ball always goes to the right. And not a very good contact.
