I thought Castile soap should never be in a recipe with vinegar. That is why Dawn is used.

I found the reason the two should not be together. Vinegar is acid, Castile is base and they react with each other. The vinegar unsaponifies the soap, changing it back to the original oil. You end up with an oily, curdled whitish solution. Andrea’s cleaning mixture did turn milky so perhaps this is what happened.

I have two senior shih tzus and one of them is a licker so I only used just water/vinegar. Never like the smell. However, I am afraid to use alcohol so I replaced it with Listerine Original and keep the rest of your recipe. The house (the floor 😂) smell wonderful !! Thank you so much. 😀😀😀

Could you tell me what essential oil you used? Also the measurements in the description box I had a hard time understanding them lol...it was 1/4 cup vinegar 1/4 cup alcohol..how much castile soap does it matter the scent on soap? Also was it 1 or 2 cups distilled water? How long does it stay potent to use with the ingredients before it looses effect?

Dollar store also have funnels to be able to fill the jar easier. Putting the alcohol and vinegar in first measured then just fill with water so you dont have to measure . Lol
