Russia’s space chief considers SpaceX's Crew Dragon as the safest in the world.
For nearly a decade the United States depended on Russia to launch NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) after the agency retired its Space Shuttle fleet in 2011. The U.S. reemerged as a space power with human spaceflight capabilities in 2020 when SpaceX launched NASA astronauts from American soil for the first time. Russia was previously vocal about its reluctance to fly on the private American spacecraft, citing SpaceX's lack of experience.
Recently, however, they have changed that notion. Dmitry Rogozin, director-general of the Russian space agency, said in a press conference during the 72nd International Astronautical Congress here Oct. 25 that he no longer had reservations about flying cosmonauts on Crew Dragon. He said, “In our view, SpaceX has already acquired enough experience for us to be able to put our cosmonauts on Crew Dragon”.
So why does Russia have a different view of SpaceX? And will the relationship between SpaceX and Russia get better after this statement of Rogozin?
Find out in today's episode with Great SpaceX.

This means a lot coming from the people who have been maintaining the Soyuz for the past 60 odd years

You need to start double checking your info. The launch was moved to November 3, 2021, 1:10AM EDT. It was rescheduled on Oct 30.

Gerstenmaier is such an asset to SpaceX. I would love to see you do a biographical video on him.

It is a little hypocritical to complain of Dragon safety when approaching ISS when the russian module almost wrecked the ISS by uncontrolled thruster firing. No doubt Bozzo will sue Roscosmos for not wanting to use their non existent hardware.

Yet 3 cosmonauts died on re-entry after the Soyuz depressurised, admittedly over 50 years ago Soyuz 11 mission on 29 Jun 1971,
RIP Georgy Dobrovolsky; Vladislav Volkov and Viktor Patsayev.

Why the change of heart by the Russians? They’d love to see Space Dragon and it’s rocket up close and from the inside while operating.

I’m fine with that but, don’t let the Chinese see it from a mile away.

It’s going to be interesting to see how much Elon charges the Russians for a seat. When he tried to purchase used ICBMs the cost was sky high! 😊

I miss Jim Bridenstine charisma and enthusiasm. He should still be NASA Administrator.

The Russians would not fly on the Shuttle(for obvious safety reasons), but Crew Dragon is safe. Trading seats on Soyuz would be a real bargain for NASA. Dragon is cheaper at 50 million compared to 90 million for Soyuz

From complaining about SpaceX vehicles approaching the space station to their views today is quite a change. The complained about the software, the sensors and the cockpit layout. Well the proof is in the pudding apparently.
Hope to see Russians onboard soon.

Russia needs to clean up their act in terms of malware and spyware I suggest as a part of any business deal. The US has some serious leverage.
