Nearly six weeks after walking off the job, members of the union representing more than 30,000 machinists voted Wednesday to reject Boeing's latest offer, a 35 percent raise over four years, and continue the strike. The setback comes just hours after the company reported $6 billion in losses. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY.

The union voluntarily gave up their pension in 2014. They have no one but themselves to blame for that. It is extremely rare for a company to reinstate a pension after it's gone or frozen when they are doing well. There's pretty much a 0% chance when a company is doing as poorly and has as much debt as Boeing currently does. I'm not sure about the union, but I know Boeing salary employees get a 100% 401k match on up to 10% of employee contributions; which is extremely generous compared to most companies. If I were the union I would focus on the GWI and a better 401k match, rather than bring back a pension which will never come back.

The "setback" is Boeing doesnt want to pay their people a decent wage. The strike is the result of that.

Asking for 40% is better than 70% lile the dock workers so they should just give it to them

I can’t believe a union would support its members GIVING UP a pension, that is one of the most ludicrous idea I have ever heard especially from a company like Boeing. The name Boeing used to mean something. I hope this downfall can be turned around and the workers are fairly treated.

Boeing should close the doors on their plant in Seattle and rebuild in a different state and hire non-union workers next time.. all these workers demanding such a large pay increase are the same ones that caused many deaths due to airplane crashes because of their poor quality workmanship. So they don't deserve anything

Just wondering how far the money they say boeing is loosing per month would go towards funding the pension.
