Most Ukrainian people living today have shared many of the same difficulties and problems that 99.9 percent of Russians have have faced. Ukraine just said Niet to serfdom and now they can call their government officials any bad name they want👍that is democracy. 🌻🇺🇦♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Great explanation of the process. It totally comports with my understanding. The problem with going from a communist system to a capitalist one is that the people have no education about what capitalism means. Add to that the corruption, and you get oligarchs. Now the oligarchs, and the apparatchiks are passing on the wealth and jobs to their kids. What you will end up with is a new aristocracy.

A similar same thing is happening in China. They have not abandoned the communist model (and Xi seems to want to go back to that) but opted for a mixed model. The ordinary person is very limited in his ability to participate in financial markets, so they turned to property, which is something even an old commie can understand. Thus, their economic distortion was to have an outsized property market which everyone thought would grow forever. Well, the big real estate developers turned into Ponzi schemes with the blessing of the government, until one day that blessing was withdrawn. China is now paying the price. In addition, the society is turning into an aristocracy as well. One will often hear the term "princeling" referring to the children and grandchildren of the revolutionaries. They now run the country.

In both cases, you also have massive corruption and a large criminal gang element. The best thing the rest of the world can do is to disengage from Russia, and China.

On 24 Feb 2022 Ukraine was given an existentialist choice, capitulate or be destroyed. She chose destruction. At the same time Ukrainians started building a new nation. An existentialist nation started to rise from the rubble. Old things are passed away, all things are new... The USSR was run by thugs and not businessmen. The thugs did not understand economics. The people were poor and faced starvation on a regular basis. There was some wealth being generated but the thugs had no idea what was going on or where was the money. They permitted oligarchs thinking they would come out in the open, pay taxes and the country could benefit. They were businessmen and they saw the opportunity of taking whole industries for themselves. Russia was bankrupt when Putin came into the game. The wealth of Russia was going abroad and Russia was impoverished. Some of the poorest people in the world live in Russia.
In the new Ukraine there will be no oligarchs because it will be a country of the people, for the people and by the people.

There seem to be actual oligarchs in Ukraine according to the definition I wrote below, because they influence who gets elected. Yanukovych apparently was backed by both Ukrainian oligarchs and Russian billionaires who were promoting him to give an advantage to Putin. Yanukovych's obscenely luxurious estate was clearly a gift from billionaires, and it is most likely that money came from Russia. Is that correct?

When it comes to the production of effective wartime propaganda, Ukraine has it easy -- they don't actually have to make anything up.

Ever heard: государства обманывает, тихий ездишь дольше будешь, мне пофиг, ничего не получается? English translation: the government fools you, go quieter live longer, it's all the same to me, nothing will come of your efforts. These are Russian mantras. Do you want their Empire?

You could have said that without "he or she" and " him or her".😅
