I Felt Pressure to Be Sexy: Boy Meets World Star on Growing & Sexploitation in Hollywood.

Danielle Fishel aka "Topanga Lawrence" REVEALS the real reason she nearly quit BOY MEETS WORLD!

She opens up in the MBB studio about facing body image issues and the pressures of objectification while she was underage, what it was like to have global pop star Lance Bass from NSYNC as her first serious boyfriend, and how chasing validation led her to perfectionism.

Danielle discusses why BOY MEETS WORLD holds such a nostalgic feeling for all of us (& did you know she didn’t originally get the role of "Topanga"?!?!), how fame affected her friendships in school, her divorce, and getting into therapy after her first marriage ended.

She also shares how her background in psychology led her to realize the importance of being established in who you are before you begin a healthy adult relationship.

We loved every version of Danielle. Topanga is still everyone's sitcom crush.

It is truly sad that you and other young actresses have to go through that.
You are a wonderful actor and I have always enjoyed watching your performances.

We saw you so differently! You were gorgeous, a model, everyone's crush, every girl wished they looked like you and were as talented! I don't know what crap those adults served you to make you feel like that but you never failed. You're a star from our generation ❤

So very disturbing, that ADULTS are abusing CHILDREN this way. It is abuse. I’m so grateful that you and so many others are coming forward and sharing your stories…. God bless you

i don't think ive ever met anyone male or female who didn't absolutely crush on you as Topanga!!! I named almost every doll, animal, barbie Topanga back then! You're absolutely gorgeous, I know it doesn't change what was, but just know that your inner thoughts were so so wrong! And those who told you you were less than just because your looks changed are disgusting humans.

I hate that they did that to you. The audience didn't feel that way at all. You have always been beautiful and seemed real and relatable

So glad you are speaking out about this. Always ALWAYS believe in your own self worth and lose those negative people who try to tear you down.

So she's saying they shamed her about her body and then made her shoot episodes about being happy with your body. That's messed up.

I can relate to this so much, not related to my body per se, but to my efforts in a job. Wow, nailed it.

You were absolutely stunning the entire time that that show ran! I used to think that you were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. You and the woman that played Hope on Days of our lives! So I don't know why they said those things to you! They were absolutely delusional and I am so sorry that you had to go through that.

This is the best channel on youtube, the sincerity and humble mindsets and pure ambition. A satin red would look great on the gts, to match the interior.

I always loved that you evolved from cute kid you to vivacious adult you on the show. I was so relieved to have the desirable ‘it’ girl be someone that had a well-balanced life, perspective, body, sense of humor, and relationships. Thanks for showing up even when it felt like nails on a chalkboard for you. I wish you’d gotten more support for being ours.

I always looked up to your character. It’s so sad they made you feel that way. That was truly a one of a kind show

Topanga was literally my very first crush when I was a kid. I couldn’t take my eyes off the tv whenever she popped up 😂

It's sad she felt that way. She was beautiful the entire run of the show, and she's still beautiful now. She was my biggest crush growing up

We were in school together, and I can honestly say Danielle is one of the kindest people I knew from those days.
The fact that adults who were supposed to protect and defend her shamed her, as a child actor growing up, and made her feel bad is unacceptable, especially after knocking her character out of the park consistently year after year. Sending hugs from afar. 🫂💜
P.S. I love that as a woman, you are standing up and speaking your truth.
