A poor narration, the reader doesn’t pause at the end of any sentences. this is particularly needed when a different character speaks.
He moves on so quickly that it’s hard to tell who is speaking, Holmes or Watson, or one of the other characters. He needs to learn to pause for effect. His tone of voice is okay but a little bit colourless.
The narrator can make or break a good story. The actor Hugh Fraser is the best at it, for Christie’s anyway. Maybe listen to him.
