I'm French and my dad wanted to call me France. Not because he's a chauvinist but because he really found that it sounded sweet. Now imagine if I had to spend a life introducing myself as France, from France. So embarrassing

More anxiety for less common names doesn’t surprise me at all, u spend ur whole childhood awkwardly correcting prononciation of authority figures and deal with peers making fun of or at least commenting on ur name

Perfect example: Thimothée Chalamet, you wont imagine someone looking like Tom Hardy or Jason Statham with that name

Fun fact: In 1958, a New York man named Robert Lane decided to name his son "Winner". Three years later, he had another son who he named "Loser".
"Winner" became a hardened criminal and "Loser" became a detective.

"our facial features actually change over the years to represent our expectations of how we should look"
This makes so much sense!! So if I expect to not look good, I actually wont - but if I start expecting to be beautiful I will be?.. wow

I wish there was a database where I could just look up names and see all the psychological associations people have with them (my name’s Natasha)

i kind of noticed that when i am referred to by my birth name i am more quiet, shy, and soft spoken. But when i am called by my chosen name i am more bold, out spoken, and more extroverted

My name is Shalishah. Many people assume it’s ghetto and made up. But it’s not...it’s Biblical. I do believe when I tell people this it changes their perspective of me.

I remember reading this book "Eragon" and one of the lines was "your name could either be a blessing or a curse"

Worked at a call center and clients always thought my name was either: Pretty, weird, unique, difficult, memorable, or tragic.

Another possible theory is that, certain parents who look a certain way may have the tendency to prefer certain names for their child. For example, a goofy and simple parent who is average looking and doesn't care too much about their attractiveness may give their child some generic names like Bob or Dan. Then their child will inherit their parents looks.

What did you guess pick for that guys name?
I thought he looked like a Josef.
I felt Josef fits his face rather than Dan.
