Abortion is one of the most divisive, toxic subjects in our culture. For the Christian, our personal feelings should not matter. God's view of life and its beginning should define what we believe about abortion. So what does the Bible say about abortion and the beginning of life? Here are Two Things the Bible Says about the when life begins.

That is an often confused and misused passage from Jeremiah. People 1st need to understand that none of the bible was written by God. Every book of the bible was written by men who we are told to believe were inspired by God. That passage from Jeremiah that is often pulled out by the religious in opposition to abortion was only about Jeremiah as a prophet. No reasonable interpretation of that passage could be extended to an argument that God was telling all mankind that we are human life "before you were in the womb". The passage says "you" (personal and singular to Jeremiah), not "mankind". Genesis tells us that God considered Adam a "living being" when he took the "breath of life". Even if that passage from Jeremiah had anything to say about when life begins it would mean that life begins at the moment of fertilization BEFORE the fertilized egg enters the womb. I do have 2 questions for those who insist that life begins at conception on religious grounds. If the embryo is a human being with a soul, does it suffer from original sin from conception? If so, is a n embryo or fetus that is aborted, miscarried or still born doomed to hell because it never lived long enough to seek forgiveness for the sin some believe we are charged with from the moment of our creation?

Even though I am an atheist, I am glad you have logical reason for your position! Well said...

My position is not based on souls (which I don't think exist) nor on viability. I think abortion should be treated like almost any other medical procedure. If it is required, it should be fine. If it is just an "I wanna" scenario, it should not!

Life begins a conception and anybody that denies that they're not smart I mean come on

The soul resides in the pineal gland thats just my theory there is no actual empirical evidence on this but there is anecdotal evidence, so I would say that to me the soul gets deposited when the brain forms which is later than 6 weeks. That Jeremiah passage it is always important to take context into consideration when talking about the bible. You cannot take something out of context to justify your way of thinking and I believe that verse was very much taken out of context.

So the soul existed before the body, but at what point does that soul enter the body?

Which part of the body was created first ? The heart or the brain ?
It's the heart, . The soul . God in us .
A person can be brain dead. But the heart still beats.
But if the heart dies so does the brain .
Just thinking out loud 🤔

With identical twins, triplets and quadruplets
Is there already 2 or 3 or 4 souls within that single cell conception/zygote?

it’s fine if your religion doesn’t allow abortions. i don’t agree with it, but it’s whatever. however, i take issue when you make your religion government. forcing your personal beliefs on others via government is gross.

unsurprisingly, the bible, written by ignorant humans, contradicts itself.
