Thanks for uploading this! How would you do this for the "blur" effect instead of "witness protection"? I followed all the steps using blur instead of witness protection, but once I get to the part where I try to apply the effect to the tracked points, the "position" drop down is not available to me.

Thanks for the video. Wow, that's a LOT of steps. You'd think that once you have the tracking done it would be all set for you to apply the affect, rather than choosing pull-downs and such.

I have a video clip that doesn't need witness protection blur until the middle of the clip.
Is there a way to have the effect not start until it's needed or should I chop the composite shot length to begin where it's needed?

thank you, I've done some interviews with people at makerspaces across the country and occasionally somebody walks through the screen who doesn't want to be on video and I can't reshoot. I was looking through other tutorials for censoring out people and kept getting complicated 3 and four layer productions using masks and what have you. This was way simpler and more useful.

can anyone help me? I'm in a bit of a pickle. I follow the steps he shows there very simple and easy to follow. I'm trying to block a license plate and on the last step where i link the distortion to the actual video clip. instead of having a small piece distorted it's the whole video and the video moves around the screen in the same direction I put the tracking motion. is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm on hitfilm express 2017 so the lay out is a little different compared to the video

Hey man good vid, I did everything, but the effect does not appear or do anything.
The track is done exactly as you explained, it follows all the points.
But when I insert the effect and have it follow the track, nothing happens
