5D MKII was my first full frame. Guess what? I just did a senior portrait shoot last week. People liked the photos, and NEVER ONCE asked me what camera it was shot with.

The 5D2 is still an amazing camera. The images still stand up even today.
There is something about the sensor.

Totally agree, I have never looked back at my work with old cameras and thought the issue was the cameras fault. Its always "wow I was crap at lighting back then and colouring and framing was not great or I should have spent more time on location and setting."

It took me a time to realise that I didnt need the latest and greatest camera to be successful. But its freeing once you come to terms with it.

I can't stop singing the praises of my Canon 5Dmk2. It's everything you said, and then some. The shutter sounds like an industrial sewing machine, but the images just sing!… (see what I did there?) I use mine for portraits and Red Carpet duty. I have other cameras, but I'll never sell it!

Although I shoot with the EOSR. The Mk2 is my backup cam in my bag. It actually saved me in a crunch; in burst mode my R heated and I couldn't shoot in a critical situation. My trusty 5D Mk2 rescued me👊🏾. It sits in my bag with my EF 16mm - 35mm 2.8 ii ready to roll!

Still shoot with 5d2's. Only have 2 lenses 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 Still make a few bob. Great videos👍

youve done a good job of bringing back the mark ii into consciousness. haha. When I first started out, I almost bought this camera but instead went mirrorless just because of size. I wasn't a pro then obviously, so mobility was really important. Now days I still shoot on an old fuji x-t2 and its as you say, good enough. Most my money has been going into the studio build itself and external lighting. i don't really think about camera bodies all that much anymore

I remember Zac Arias doing a similar video many years ago and the advice still holds up 👍🏽

Thank you for sharing your video. I used to shoot for car magazines both in the UK and Ireland a few years ago with my 5d2. I bought a second one two years ago and never take my 24-70 and 70-200 F2.8 II away from both bodies. They are bulletproof and I had considered going to a higher mp but I've talked myself out of it. Happy Days. My only complaint is finding software that will allow me to tether to try focus stacking using my tablet to control my cameras.

I just bought my second 5D MKII body in the last year. It has 5000 shutter actuations, and is like new. I love these cameras!

Shot video with mine this morning. Did an archive shoot last week with it. It’s never not delivered.

I love my 5Dii and still use it as my main backup body... I do not hesitate to use this + good glass for any job... (Weddings and obviously not sports or wildlife) 😊

I'm fortunate to shoot with a Sony at work but got a 5d mk2 for personal use. This was the best purchasing decision ever.

Hi,
This is a brilliant video, brilliant advice & brilliant shots too my friend!... Couldn't agree more with all the points you make.
Quick question; with just one decent central focus point how do you off centre focus the eyes? With shallow depths of field focus & recompose would surely always through the focus out? Or do you always manual focus for your work?
Many thanks, very inspiring video indeed 🙏

Maybe the Mark III due the dual memory card slots?

I bought an excellent condition Mark II a couple of years ago primarily for personal photography and in order to save my Mark IV for the wide variety of paid work I undertake. It didn't take long for me to realise just how good the Mark II is. It still does all the family and friends stuff but also joins the Mark IV for the pro work, the two of them sharing the 24-70 and 70-200 lenses. My third rather splendid piece of kit is the Olympus OM1-n that I bought back in 1979 which has travelled the world with me, taken countless shots and still works like new to this day!

I still use my mk2 as my main camera. The stills are still amazing, but I need to retire it for video work. I'm planning on upgrading to the 1dx2 for the same price I originally paid for my old, trusty 5D all those years ago. ($1500).

Almost bought a few mkii's but as I shoot a lot in portrait orientation I remembered why they drove me nuts in the first place. Very frustrating focusing experience - but they are a nice solid camera.
