Honestly, this version of the opening is way better than the other. Its just more atmospheric and interesting while the other is generic and bland

i'm so glad that they decided to animate the Dark Era. without it, the story of the main timeline wouldn't be as enjoyable to the audience (character development related confusion) and i wouldn't have fallen in love with the series!

edit: this opening is the best of the entire anime and dark era is the only acceptable anime adaptation from the entire series (ok maybe the Hitori Ayumu ova too). otherwise, Dead Apple was pretty dope but in general i still prefer the manga and light novels.

I really love how the credits are integrated into the neon lights. It's been a while since I saw the show, so when was it that the OP flipped from this nice, clean version to the other version which I really didn't like as much...
