Launch of the UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech

Opening speeches of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng at the Informal briefing by the Secretary-General on the UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech.

The Strategy and Plan of Action guides all United Nations entities, at Headquarters and in the field, to do their part to address hate speech. The Strategy and Plan of Action calls for stronger support to Member States as well as stronger engagement with private companies, civil society and media. It is consistent with and supports other key agendas of the United Nations, including the Sustainable Development Goals, the Sustaining Peace resolutions and the promotion and protection of human rights.

The Strategy provides ideas on how to address the root causes and drivers of hate speech and how to reduce its impact on societies.

Thank you for your prescience; prevention of genocide<- as a survivor of war in the Philippines (it was like civil war between the Marcoses and the Aquinos in the 80's leaving a very weakened infrastructure taken to corruption) I thank you, and salute you. God bless.

Who say Palestinian does not exist create the same pain that the people who say the Holocaust never existed. Both are so sick and cruel. I hope we Evolve! Is a form of bulliyng. We can dislike a goverment and choose to boycott their goods to stop them from behaving badly when possible. You can't pick and choose who you can boycott or not. Fairness means be able to have a clean eye and soul, not behave one way with one and another with who we like less. We must get over the collective guilt from bad past choices, Canada and our PM is working on it with our FN that suffered and still suffer from horrid racism and false " white superiority" syndrome. All need room to Heal, not just some. Thank You for trying to find a better way. We have ONE planet we are ALL living on.
