RISA-3D's latest interface has engineers' workflow in mind. With a logical left-to-right, tab-by-tab ribbon approach, RISA-3D makes it effortless to progress through a model from its conception to its final optimization by simply following the icon sequencing. The latest ribbon also features tabs to lend organization to RISA-3D's many functionalities.

Once you take some time to learn the new interface, it is much more efficient that the older workflow. I was used to the old interface, and can definitely say its more intuitive now and I work more efficiently than in the old one.

After 2 years away from structural consulting engineering, I'm back at work. Come to find that my beloved Risa 3D has changed. I used to be so fast working in Risa 3D. Now my workflow seems exceedingly hampered by so many tools being buried in different spots or other functionality just removed. WHY RISA? Sure, the previous interface looked outdated, but IT WORKED! As GPCivil stated, time is money. Not only do I now have to re-learn this program, I'm also slowed by inefficient layout. Everything was at my fingertips in the previous version. Now everything is buried.

Great New Features added, much better looking Graphics and interface, So far I love it, I understand I'll have to spend some time to get up to speed again.
Is there was a way to customize colors for selected v/s unselected members?

Use yellow highlighted cursors that viewer can quickly understand the location of it

Unfortunately this new UI is proving painful and tedious to use so far. The draw tools and view tools are buried in separate tabs meaning the user has to constantly toggle back and forth when modeling...oh, and want to delete a node?...yeah the delete tool is now buried in yet another tab. Extremely awkward and slow.

The selection tool seems more laggy than the previous one.

Also the ability to import dxf files and append other RISA model files appears completely broken. After spending hours cleaning up dxfs, even importing them into RISA 2D to turn them into RISA models (hoping RISA 3D v18 would at least recognize RISA 2D), googling help documentations explaining how to do things that apparently don't function in this release, I'm have to remodel complex node geometry because there's no way to import/append. Extremely frustrating.

As a LONG time user of RISA I will say that it is really great software, the best structural software, as far as I know. However, I don ‘t think V18 was an improvement at all. I haven’t found anything it can do better that V17, and some things are worse. For starters, it takes much longer to boot up and, the graphics are actually worse. On top of that everything is changed, so I’ve had to spend hours trying to figure out how to do something I already knew how to do. People like me who use this software for a living made a big investment in time to learn how to use this software and nowhere is it more true that “time is money” than in the consulting business. I feel like I had a huge financial investment that was rendered worthless. I’m sorry if this comes off harsh but to be honest I feel let down.

Keep making it worsts. At some point we'll have to migrate to some software more user friendly.

Horrible new interface, seriously it's terrible!!! I have a really old RISA 2d version that I make my models in, then I re-open them in the new version for the final run. I gave it a good try but the new interface is clunky and I still can't find certain items. The old interface was SO MUCH FASTER and it's not because I know how to use if versus learning something new. Why mess with something that already worked well!
