Inside an American MiG-29

Step into the cockpit of America’s only private, airworthy MiG-29. This aircraft is owned and flown by Jared “Rook” Isaacman as flagship of the Polaris Program’s Ghost Squadron. It is used primarily as an advanced training resource to provide Polaris Program astronauts with experience they will use on their missions. This MiG-29 can also be seen in the skies over America in air show performances that showcase precision flying and bring awareness to the team’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Jared's MiG-29 is the only airworthy, privately owned MiG-29 in the entire United States. It also stands out due to it being the two seat “UB” variant. This model was designed to train Soviet pilots how to fly the MiG-29 with an instructor so that they could eventually transfer to the single seat variant. The aircraft has been demilitarized so any weapon systems present are non-functional.

No matter what: The Mig 29 is an incredibly beautiful plane. Thanks for this video.

I saw this bird last summer at AirVenture Oshkosh 2023, it was an amazing airshow. The thunder from those RD-33 engines reverberates through your chest! Great performance and aerobatics, the G's must have been something to experience in the back seat! They did formation flying with a Mig-17 at the show too! The Mig-17's afterburner is quite unique with it's pulsing flame vs the Mig-29's smooth flame with thrust/mach diamonds extending outward.

As Tupolev said "Only beautiful planes can fly good"

I flew the Su 27 for 15 years and the Mig 29 is also a wonderful machine.

My favourite fighter jet since childhood, when I saw one taking off with the afterburner lit and the noise it made going just above the tree tops.. This made me love aviation.

Most in-depth cockpit view on YouTube, I always loved how they went with a grey cockpit instead of the traditional teal, gives it a much more sleek appearance.

I've been in love with the Mig-29 ever since I laid first eyes of pictures of her. I think that was back in 1985. What a dream to own one, but man the money for upkeep is insane.

This is amazing, the fact that this thing is still flying decades later and owned privately is wild. How would you even go about getting replacement parts? I’m guessing there’s a good amount of modifying involved.

The MIG-29 is by far the most beautiful aircraft ever made.

Each Engine in Full Afterburner burns about 2 Gallons per Second, similar to the J79 Engine in the F4 Phantom, F104, A5, B58.
