Emily when authors write an open ending: YOU HAD ONE JOB!
I agree with Emily! **

I can not agree with you more about open endings. I resent the author and I get sooo mad. It’s so satisfying when the author creates a wonderful ending and resolves all your questions, like you feel that every little detail was purposely organized throughout the story and all makes sense. Very difficult indeed but extremely enjoyable. With open endings, you have lots of unanswered questions and frustration.

The Library at Mount Char Illustrated Special Edition is up for preorder at MidWorld Press. It’s very affordable and the illustrations by Robert Carter are coming up amazing.

I started the girl with the dragon tattoo because of you and I just finished the 3rd one. It's amazing. I thought that at some point I would be bored because what more could happen to Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander but I was pleasantly surprised how Stieg Larsson's books got me out of a reading slump when they're 500+ pages long. So definitely recommend you keep reading and they're great fall/ winter reads!!

Emily, one of the things that keeps me coming back to your videos is the variety of genres that you read. Thank you for NOT being a one-trick pony! I've read several of the books on your (best) list (Dark Matter, The Long Walk, The sun Down Motel, Sharp Objects) and agree that they are worth anyone's reading time. If I may, here are some of my favorite thrillers which you might want to consider in the future:

Marathon Man - William Goldman
Killshot - Elmore Leonard
The Runaway Jury - John Grisham
Hit Man - Lawrence Block
Open Season - C.J. Box
Where Eagles Dare - Alistair MacLean
Ice Station - Matthew Reilly
Vanishing Act - Thomas Perry
The Alienist - Caleb Carr

My recommendation for fall would be Steve Berry’s the lost order because it is a standalone and mixes history with mystery brilliantly and is so fun to read. Also, I highly recommend jade city I started it. It’s so good and definitely a good book for this time of year.

YESS! It always excites me so much to see people mention Dark Matter by Black Crouch. Since I've read it it's still one of my favorite books to this day. I remember after I read it wishing you had read it and recommending it on some random video of yours haha. I'm so happy to see you read it and loved it! <3

Also-- Have you read The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch? If not I would highly recommend it! :)

Would love to recommend you Kill Creek by Scott Thomas. Basically it's about a haunted house filled with some famous horror authors for one night, and it isn't an open ending lol

Hey Emily! Could you make a video about your favourite movie/series cast of book adaptations? You know, naming the times where you watched a movie/series and thought „this guy/girl looks or acts exactly like I imagined them while reading the book!“ 🙈

So many thrillers here that I want to read! Definitely want to read The Push. It gives me The Perfect Child vibes. I had DNF the Karin Slaughter book too. It was way too graphic for me too!

One of my new favorite thrillers that is perfect for this time of year is In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead.
Also, what shade of lipstick are you wearing?? It’s stunning!!! 😍😍

You HAVE to read Razorblade Tears. It was such a good book! Also how to kill your family was one that I've read recently and really enjoyed it!

Pretty girls was horrific. I can handle a lot but Emily hit the nail on the head - horrible violence against women, things that should never have been written on paper. I felt so sick after reading it.

I would recommend The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz, The Whisper Man by Alex North, Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P Manansala (cozy mystery), and Verity by Colleen Hoover (although that one is open ended, but it worked for me).

I loved Recursion by Blake Crouch. Dark matter was still good, but I preferred Recursion.
