I soaked cotton balls with acetone and used nail clips for each nail
Thank you for you video though it helped get me started 💅

I tried this method and strongly advise against it. Firstly, it didn't work. Once I lifted my nails out the mixture to remove the gel it hardened quickly, so it was difficult to remove it. But most importantly, having my fingers sit in heated up acetone has done damage. The skin on my fingertips and just behind my nails feels strange and is cracked.
I ended up doing it using the soaked cotton and foil method and that worked better and way faster. But my fingers and nails were so cracked from this one that it was a painful process.

Instead of soaking them in water, getting acetone on/in your skin, can you just soak some cotton balls or some other kind of cloth in the acetone and then kind of adhere or tape that to each nail?

No it doesn’t work. I spent nearly two hours with this process. Rewarming, scraping, soaking. Once started you can’t stop unfortunately. Do not recommend this hack. Sorry

Do not do this! I did it and nails did not come off but worst off all it burnt the skin on my fingers which has not cracked and blistered. Biggest regret 😢

Terrible advice to suggest to non licensed professionals that they should heat up solvents. Its unlikely your average viewer is aware that a chemical's volatility is determined by its evaporation rate making combustion possible. Heating acetone speeds its evaporation rate, raising its volatility thereby by making explosions and accidental fires more likely. "Common sense" and advanced chemistry do not mix. You really need to be aware of a thing or two this video never mentioned.. Quite frankly its shocking that Southern Living allowed this content. It seems like a huge liability.
