Holy cow... I'd watched Professor Dave video a while back, I'd been a fan of his ever since I saw him debunk the Flat Earth vids which was very enjoyable to watch XD HOWEVER, Professor Dave got absolutely obliterated here. It just shows...be careful picking a fight that's out of your league, I think Prof Dave overstepped quiet a bit. And as someone who has a degree in Biochemistry, I've been doing analytical chemistry the last 15 years (37 years old now), I definitely took a bit of offense too 'cause I believe in Christ as well and that has nothing to do with my love for understanding and testing the material world around me. Anyways, well done Dr. Tour.

Thank you to those who have provided feedback on the background music. Use of elements such as background music is intentional in certain places, for example, during parts an average listener may find monotonous and will stop watching. (YouTube analytics provides us meaningful drop off data on viewers.) Our research shows that background music and other elements keep these viewers engaged. We understand those having scientific prowess who come strictly for the technical content may prefer to not have music or may find it distracting, but we made an intentional decision to prioritize the retention of those viewers who may drop off and stop watching over the preference of those who come for the technical content and will stay and watch regardless.

As to the music volume, we will look into that and can only potentially address that in Episode 3 and beyond. (Episode 2 and prior has already been prepped for YouTube.)

Thank you so much Dr James! I love your openness about your love for Jesus and your love for science! I too love Jesus and I love science! I unfortunately suffered from the Dunning Kruger Effect in college. However, I quickly realized how little I understood as I read the history of some scientists/polymaths that made great contributions to different fields of study. Wow! So now my trite phrase about me is, “I am smart enough to know how little I understand!”

Dear Dr Tour,

A compelling presentation, as always! Just two points: (1) About speculation; remember the story told by Alvin Plantings. He went home and told his wife that he had a salary increase, she (knowing her man) said ‘How do you know?’ And he replied: ‘I’m an important professor in a top university and salary increases are what people like me get.’ In other words maybe, possibly, cannot be enough to establish anything. (2) Even if you are wrong about abiogenesis, there is still the extraordinary puzzle of ‘natural normativity’. This is the fact that somehow a collection of chemicals can acquire proper function. Chemicals just exist but living organisms are healthy or unhealthy living or dead. These are categories which are irreducible and cannot result from a natural process. (See: Michael Thompson, ‘Life and Action’, Harvard UP, 2008.
