Dr. Phillip Barbee: You may have noticed on one of your selfies or profile photographs that you have a weak chin. If you have a weak chin or a short chin, you might be a good candidate for a chin implant. The chin implant is a procedure where a small incision is made beneath the chin and an implant is inserted to augment or enhance the chin region. We perform this procedure with what's known as an anatomical chin implant that has a unique shape in order to recreate the contour of a pleasing or ideal chin. If you feel that your chin is short or weak then you may indeed be a candidate for a chin implant.

This procedure takes about 15-20 minutes to perform and a chin implant is something permanent. Unlike implants that may be used anywhere else in the body, that may or may not need to be exchanged from time to time, chin implants are permanent once they're placed.
