For all the people coming from other 3d softwares like Maya and 3Ds Max, try to change the lattice interpolation settings from "Bspline" to "Linear", doing this the modifier will work like the one you are used to
Practical example, i had to scale one mesh from 60 cm to precisely 70 cm, i could not do it with Bspline on but Linear worked as intended

Another very fine tutorial, Ryan. A couple tips to consider adding: (1) do all of the sizing of the lattice while the ad properties dialogue is still showing. Otherwise, when the modifier is used, the mesh will jump into a warped position. The other part of that is to not apply scale to the lattice. Or maybe there is a way to do that without messing up the mesh, but I haven’t found it. (2) Control-P parent using lattice can also be helpful for keeping the lattice with the mesh or rather the mesh with the lattice.

I just found a very useful way to use lattice, use plane as distorting object then use sinkwrap, i'll be very good for sinkwraping an object !

i dont know what im doing wrong when i add the lattice i can only see it in edit mode, when a adjust the size of the lattice in edit mode it ends up making my object bigger or smaller depending on which i do, also if i move the lattice my object will move where the lattice is.
