Great video but... Latvians are not figuring out their culture. In fact culture is the only thing that kept us from becoming russified or germanized. So culture is one of the Latvian strong sides.
You should check out some information about Latvian song and dance festival.

I'm from Latvia, Riga. "searching for identity" is not true. Here is a lot of culture, traditions and food.
And even if there is 44% Latvians in Riga, it is definitely not mixed feeling. In Latvia you really can feel that there is basically only Latvians. In Riga You can hear Latvian and Russian languages, but outside in most of country there is only Latvian language (except one area). About food none of that is traditional food in video, only beer is. + there are a lot of beautiful architecture what to see in centre what you can't see in this video.
So if you want to get a real experience of country just talk with locals, they know where to go, what to see and where to eat! :)

I am from Latvia and Latvian colture and history is really interesting and latvians gave up a lot to have a countary . The sad thing is that people don't know that and don't appreciate latvians. But latvians are proud of theyre country and people

Thank you so much for the mention guys 😀 when you think near enough the whole city was rebuilt it's amazing how they rebuilt it exactly how it previously looked. Well near enough

USSR really screwd us over, with the cold war it set us back 50 years. We lost so much as a nation :(

That white drink is called kefir :) It's very popular around Eastern Europe, kind of like sour milk (when ayran is yogurt mixed with water)

Going back to your older vlogs, because I am going to travel the Baltic states this summer with a friend. I find your vlogs are more informative than a lot of others on YT. :-)

LoL, I suppose that "watered down sour cream" was kefir (Latvian "kefīrs"), that's a fermented milk drink, but fermented differently than yogurt (by different kind of bacteria, I guess). I really loved it as a kid, especially with some cinnamon and sugar.
