Y5 RE enrichment trip to the Mosque of Life, Thornton Lodge

Year 5 RE enrichment visit to Jamia Masjid Noor (The Mosque of life), Thornton Lodge, Huddersfield.

We were welcomed in, and shown around, this beautiful Mosque by three amazing Muslim women. We learned the actions associated with prayer and what each action means. We dressed up in traditional Islamic clothing and found out why Muslim women cover their hair with headscarves.

We also found out about the importance of Wudu (the act of washing before presenting to God). We ended our visit with a treasure hunt in the Prayer Hall. On our way back to school we called at the infamous Dixon’s Ice Cream Parlour for an ice cream. Excellent behaviour from every single child and lots of new knowledge for everyone.
