How to Clear Cookies, Browsing History and Cache in Mozilla Firefox

In this video, we will show you how to clear cache and cookies in Mozilla Firefox.

Cookies stores information such as user preferences, enabling tracking of characteristics related to the user, while cache will keep resource files such as audio, video or flash files, enabling web pages to load much faster.

Typically, cookies expire after some time, but cache has to be removed from the browser. For this tutorial, we will be using Firefox version 85.0, but the steps should work in previous versions as well.

We will be deleting the cookies from the Browser Privacy window in the browser preferences section. Let’s get started.

On the home screen, you can click on the gear icon on the right-hand side to open up the preferences tab.

In the new screen, move over to the “Privacy and Security” section and scroll down to the Cookies and Site data section. Over here, click on the “Clear Data” button.

You can simply click on the “Clear” button to delete cookies, site data and cache from the browser. By doing this, you may get automatically logged out of all websites you are currently logged in.

Alternatively, there is a way for you to remain logged in after deleting cookies and cache in the browser. Fir that, simply press the “Control Shift and Delete” shortcut key to open the “Clear All History” window.

Over here, you can only select the Cookies and Cache option, while unchecking all the remaining options, for example active logins or form and search history.

Make sure “Everything” is selected from the drop-down menu here. Once you hit OK, only cookies and cache would be deleted from the browser while keeping all the remaining data.
